Sand Dropseed
Description
Sand Dropseed is a warm-season, native, perennial bunch grass that grows best on coarse, sandy to gravelly soils at elevations up to 8,000 feet. Sand dropseed ranges from southern Canada to northern Mexico and is very drought tolerant, able to persist with as little as 5 inches annual precipitation. It produces abundant forage that is palatable and nutritious for all livestock, but forage quality declines rapidly after maturity. Sand dropseed is valuable in protecting sandy soil from wind erosion.
